What does 'vetted' mean on Knockr?
On Knockr, 'vetted' is a specific, layered process — not a marketing label. Every specialist who creates a Knockr account must complete identity verification using a government-issued Australian photo ID (driver's licence or passport) before they can accept their first booking. We compare the photo on the ID to a live selfie, check document expiry, and flag any mismatch for manual review.
On top of identity, specialists in regulated trades — including plumbing, gas fitting, HVAC, pest management and locksmithing — upload their current trade licence and insurance documents. A team member manually checks each document against the relevant Australian register before the Licence Verified badge appears on the profile.
How are reviews kept honest?
Knockr reviews are tied to completed bookings only. A customer can only submit a review after they have confirmed the job is done in the app. This single rule eliminates almost all of the gaming that plagues open-rating systems — fake reviews from competitors, paid bulk reviews, or anonymous account spam. If the booking never happened, the review can't be posted.
Specialists can respond publicly to reviews but cannot remove them. Disputed reviews go to a small support team that reviews the booking chat history and decides whether to retain, remove or attach context. Every decision is logged.
What happens when something goes wrong?
Most issues — a late arrival, a scope misunderstanding, a product preference — get resolved between the customer and the specialist through the in-app chat. Knockr's payment flow is designed to keep that conversation possible: the $50 deposit is held in escrow and is only released to the specialist when the customer marks the job complete.
If a more serious issue arises (safety, professionalism, a serious quality failure), customers can report directly from the booking. Reports are investigated within one business day. Where a specialist's conduct doesn't meet our community standards, accounts can be suspended pending review — and in the most serious cases, permanently removed.
"The reason I joined Knockr instead of another platform was the licence check. I'm a fully licensed plumber and gas fitter, and I wanted to work somewhere that actually treats that as the bar to entry — not just a tick-box."
— Daniel, Licensed Plumber & Gas Fitter, Brunswick VIC (Licence Verified)
Frequently asked
How long does identity verification take?
Most identity verifications complete within 5 minutes during business hours. Specialists are notified by email when their account is approved.
What if a specialist's licence expires?
Knockr tracks licence expiry on every Licence Verified profile. Specialists are notified 30 days before expiry and the badge is automatically suspended on the expiry date until a renewed document is uploaded.
Can I see a specialist's licence number?
Specialist profiles display the type of licence (e.g. 'Victorian Plumbing Licence — Registered') and the issuing authority. Full licence numbers are kept private but can be requested through the chat before booking.
